Corian Thermoforming Demo

These pictures chart the creation of a Corian Hammock. Kyle Doda was interested in pushing the limits of Corian and thermoforming. He chose the hammock as a method to test the structural capabilities of Corian, and put on a performance in the creation of the hammock. Kyle was harnessed into a winch with 4 layers of glass casting leathers for protection from the 300 degree Corian. The material was heated in a glass annealer and suspended above the ground with cables. Kyle was lowered into the hammock, forming the Corian to his body. The final piece is surprisingly comfortable and will be hung in the lobby of Harder Hall for others to enjoy. Information will be posted alongside the hammock on the thermoforming process.
